Making Sense of Suffering Pt.2

Our First Sunday Communion Service for the month of May was truly a blessings. The brief conversations I had with a couple of the men just prior to our worship service revealed the fact that the enemy (Satan) had been busy since our last time together. Nevertheless, we prayed. We sang “What A Friend We Have In Jesus". We recited our Confession of Faith. We opened our Bibles. I preached from Psalm 105:1-4 encouraging the men to consider this beautiful song of David when he exhorted the people to call on God (pray) and seek His strength and presence daily. This simple daily practice of seeking God’s strength and presence amid suffering was wise advice from the David, the king of Israel. Like David, we too can rejoice because we know that our Omnipotent God is ever present to give us the power of His grace, mercies, and love as we endure the pains of life. David desired that Israel advance further in their worship to God by remembering His wondrous works. This night, it appeared that the brother needed to do just that - advance beyond their current troubled thoughts regarding their circumstance and think about the God who is their present help in times of trouble and Who has proven to help them so many times in the past.

After the message we took Communion, remembering what God has done for us by sending His only Son, Jesus, to die for the forgiveness of sin. After service, as we walked to the pod, one of the brother’s pointed upward - the clouds somehow formed an image of a cross.

Thank you Lord! We needed that! And yes, we remember!
