Serve Like Jesus

Our First Sunday Communion Service continues to be a blessing! We sang ‘Oh how I love Jesus’, prayed, and then opened our Bibles to be encouraged by the Word of God. As we approach Resurrection (Easter) Sunday, we reflected on why Jesus came to earth in the place. Jesus came to serve and give His life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). Those who assembled were encouraged to continue to serve and love like Jesus - the Suffering Servant. Jesus provided Christians with the perfect model for humble service for the good of others - especially in challenging situations! Praise God for Jesus Christ and His love and humility. We left our worship experience knowing that Jesus wants to serve believers as they too are called to drink from the ‘cup’ of suffering. In context, James and John missed an essential characteristic of the Kingdom: It’s inhabitants are characterized by humble, loving service - not power and prestige. Thank God for His Word. Thank you Jesus for your humble service to us sinners as revealed in your leaving glory to come to die on the Cross for the forgiveness of our sins. To be sure, Jesus wants to serve us (i.e. provide, comfort, help, heal, strengthen, teach, and guide) as we endure the hardships of this world. Since Jesus served us, surely we His disciples, who have Christ and the Holy Spirit in them, can serve others with love and compassion like Him!
