Avoid Idols
God continues to bless our worship experience with the presence of faithful men who love the Lord. We give praises to God for this. We also thank God for the steady stream of new worshipers who attend our monthly Communion Worship Service. Whether a regular faithful attendee or a new attendee in the church, believers must always be on guard against the idols that can creep into their lives. Idols are everywhere - even in the prisons across the world. An idol can be anything, or any person, that comes into the heart and takes the place which ought to be filled by God, and by Him only. The apostle John lovingly warned early believers to be careful and to keep themselves from allowing anything else to replace God in their hearts and lives (1 John 5:12). The practical duty of combating idolatry comes through fellowship with Him who is the only true God, and able to satisfy your whole nature, mind, heart, will, by faithful reading, studying, and obedience to His Word.
I pray that our incarcerated brothers and sisters be empowered by God’s Spirit to keep themselves from idols and to remain faithful to winning souls for Jesus Christ.
To God be the glory!
