Continuing the Mission…

After many months of being on hold due to COVID-related restrictions and delays, our ministry has finally resumed in the Colorado Department of Corrections system. There are some new faces, new rules, new this and new that but praise be to God that one thing remains unchanged: Jesus Christ loves the incarcerated.

The last couple of weeks have been encouraging. I have encountered various staff members and offenders who go out of their way to support our ministry. Also, the need for spiritual care and chaplain services amongst the prison population is wonderfully apparent.  Things appear to be coming together as I reconnect with folks internally as well as with the partnering external organizations- namely those that have been faithful in providing resources to us involved in prison outreach. What a blessing to know that chaplains are appreciated and needed.

I think back to the time when I served in the military and that one instance when I complained to a superior Officer about not being able to get my administrative-related work done due to my having to deal with the many issues my Soldier’s were bringing before me. My fellow Officer leaned back in his chair, smiled, and said “Welcome to leadership. The moment those you serve stop coming to you for help is the moment they have lost confidence in your ability to help them.”

Dear Father in Heaven, thank You for the privilege to serve the least of these.
